Products
The MiChroSat family of products from Wireless Innovation are designed around the highly successful Iridium 9522 LBT modem.
The MiChroSat 2403, a third generation of MiChroSat products provides a fully user ready platform for customers wishing to deploy the 9522b functions into a wide range of solutions.
MiChroSat provides a user with a traditional RS-232 interface, a power interface, (and with the delivery of the 2403 variant) a voice port as standard. Users can use a series of Hayes AT commands to control the device.
Power usage is of vital importance to users at remote sites, and so the MiChroSat comes with a range of power saving functions. These include “windowing” allowing the device to be switched down to a small quiescent power draw at certain times, waking only at user specified “time windows” to either transmit or receive data. The unit can be programmed to wake on DTR high again allowing it to be in a near quiescent state and only woken by the device connected to it.
Access to remote sites with MiChroSat deployed can be limited and so the unit is designed to perform a “reboot and reload” every 24 hours, restoring itself to its last known “good” configuration reducing greatly the need for site visits due to communications problems.
Due to the nature of the Iridium network, Wireless Innovation always recommends units are used Iridium to Iridium rather than Iridium to PSTN or vice versa. As such the MiChroSat 2403 “Headend” unit can be deployed at lower cost than a pair of MiChroSat 2403 units, depending on the application then one headend can effectively “talk” to 50 MiChroSat 2403’s in the field with no timing issues.
